Jamie Throckmorton - Owners
Jamie Throckmorton
We purchased Something Extra Preschool in 1992 in its original location on Elkhorn Blvd.
Jamie worked for many years in the preschool industry as a teacher's aide, teacher, and administrator and obtained a degree in Early Childhood Development from California State University, Sacramento.
As the Owner Jamie has had the opportunity to build a great staff and seen many children grow up to be great young adults, some who to this day stay in contact with her. John assists behind the scenes in the operation of the preschool while is operating his own small business.
In our free time we enjoy camping, travel, and spending time with our adult children and their families.

As Director, Jamie and I work closely with our families to help everyone realize their full potential.
Besides teaching and caring for your children, I also enjoy reading, cooking and spending time with my husband and our three children.

I am the lead teacher for the Infant and Toddler Classes. I grew up through Something Extra Preschool as a child and have always dreamed of being a teacher here. My dream came true in 2016. I am in this field because I am very passionate about Early Childhood Education. I love to observe the children as they are learning and growing, the connections we make with each and every child is something that I treasure. When I'm not teaching, I love spending time with my 3 beautiful children and traveling.

I have been with Something Extra Preschool since May 2019 and I've been working professionally in the field for several years. I just love those "light bulb" moments when a child realizes or understands something new for the first time, the look on their precious face is unforgettable. In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with my girls, watching movies and going for hikes.

I have been with Something Extra Preschool since I was cared for here, way back in 2000! I love what we do here and how we truly partner with families to bring out the best in the children. I love the way no two days are ever the same and there is never a dull moment. In my spare time I enjoy hanging out with my friends and doing hair and make up for weddings and special events.

I am an older sister and I have wanted to be a teacher since I was 5 years old! I've been with Something Extra Preschool since 2018 and I am working toward my degree in Child Development. In my spare time I enjoy taking my dog out for adventures or just hanging out at home.

I've been in the childcare field since 2022 and with Something Extra Preschool since 2023. I love working with children and watching them grow and change. In my spare time I enjoy making sugar scrubs for myself, friends and family. I also enjoy hanging out with my friends and family watching movies and playing games.
Kianah Barker
Kianah Barker
I enjoy being part of a team that provides children with skills and knowledge they'll take with them for life. I look forward to continuing my education in Early Childhood. Eventually I want to become a P.E. teacher. In my free time I enjoy exploring outdoors - open water is a favorite, I also enjoy spending time with my family and traveling.

I feel childcare is a rewarding field that offers countless opportunities for growth and connection. I love watching children use their imagination particularly with music and dress-up. I am continuing my education at American River College pursuing an AA degree in Early Childhood Education. In my spare time I spend time with my family, reading and playing video games.
